As a Lead Service Coordinator in San Diego, I work at Sorrento Tower Apartments with low-income seniors, with many having mobility issues. I oversee the care of over 200 residents. ABOUT KAL REECE

Kal Reece is the owner of Lifeguard Insurance Services, an independent agency that has worked with seniors and nationally known, A-rated insurance carriers since 2007.

Having witnessed his share of sickness, death, and the expenses that come with it, he came to realize many little-known ways to handle expenses, save money and alleviate grief for both clients and family members. Along the way, Kal has made life-long relationships with senior facilities, attorneys, health-service advocates, and mega-benefit insurance carriers. He has been interviewed by major networks and received the ‘America’s Top Planner’ designation in 2015.

Kal considers himself, and has been referred to, as a “natural problem-solver.” His diverse senior clientele includes vets, celebrities, retired teachers, CEO’s and low-income households, who rely on him for advice on Medicare planning, insurance, debt-elimination and retirement income planning.

Kal grew up in New York City in the early 1960s. He moved to LA in 1984 and settled in San Diego to avoid the traffic. His father served in Europe during World War 2 and left him with many lessons he likes to share with family, friends and clients alike. He thanks his mentors and a higher spirit for nurturing his talent to help others prepare for the unexpected.

What Medicare services do you work with?

We broker Supplements, Medicare Advantage, Dental, Vision and Hospital Indemnity plans.

At what age can I qualify for Medicare?

Usually, Americans over 64 1/2 and can qualify for Medicare. However, you can be much younger and qualify depending on certain health factors.

Will my plan benefits diminish with age?

They can, depending on market factors, carrier plans. However, the change will usually affect the entire group enrolled in that plan, regardless of age.

Can I be canceled?

Yes. If you do not pay your Pt B premium, or have a plan which charges additional premiums, and you fail to pay those premiums, you can be canceled.

What’s the difference between a Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage?

There are many, but suffice it to say that a Medicare Supplement can cover a much larger area and give you access to doctors and treatments you may not have access to with a Medicare Advantage plan. There is much more to this, so contact us for more information.

Do I really need to work with an agent?

No, but recent studies suggest that Medicare recipients are much better informed, feel more secure and are much happier with their plans using a personal agent or broker than doing it themselves.

I don’t understand Medicare very well, what can you do for me?
